National Security Service Provides Guard Services for Megan’s House Event

Lowell, Mass.—As part of its far-reaching commitment to corporate philanthropy, National Security Service (NSS) provided important support last month for the Megan’s House Foundation’s 2nd Annual Golf Tournament.

The nationwide security firm is a frequent supporter of selected nonprofits around the country through the donation of its specialized Event Security services. Event Security is one aspect of of NSS’s extensive portfolio of professional guard services for the full range of security needs.

The Megan’s House event drew some 150 golfers for the tournament and hundreds more supporters for a day of food, fun, and games for people of all ages. In all, the event raised more than $30,000 for Megan’s House, a comprehensive residential substance abuse treatment home for young women between the ages of 18 and 26 who struggle with addiction, including those caught up in the widely-recognized epidemic of opioid addiction.

Opioids are a class of drugs that includes not only illegal narcotics such as heroin but also many prescription painkillers, including fentanyl, oxycodone, and hydrocodone. Experts say that more than 21 million Americans struggle with substance abuse, a figure that includes about two million people abusing prescription drugs and nearly 600,000 heroin users.

Following the golf contest, the group hosted a luncheon headlined by the tournament’s Honorary Chairman, State Representative Tom Golden, a longtime leader in Massachusetts in responding to the crisis of opioid addiction. Golden also played the role of auctioneer and good-humored arm-twister for the day’s culminating feature, an auction of donated goods and services and raffle items.

In securing the event—as with all of the charity events it works—NSS takes the business of keeping guests and property safe and secure off the shoulders of the organizers, giving them one less thing to worry about, a National Security Service spokesman explained.

“There’s one thing nobody needs in the midst of planning, promoting, and staging an event–large or small: One more thing to worry about,” he said. “NSS Event Security Guards have the training, expertise, and experience to ensure a secure event, without becoming intrusive.”

With 437 field offices covering all 50 states, NSS has deep experience in providing security guard services for events of all types and sizes, from corporate meetings to parties and promotional events, fundraisers of all sorts, and large performance and sporting events, the spokesman added.

Whether it is a corporate meeting, a party, an entertainment venue, a promotional event, or anything else you have in the works, event security always requires a rare breed of event security guards who can bring the blend of experience, judgement, sensitivity, efficiency, and professionalism that you expect and your guests deserve.

For their part, a representative of the Megan’s House Foundation said that NSS support was an important contribution to the success of the golf tournament and the day’s other events. “Such generosity,” he said, “will go a long way toward ensuring the residents of Megan’s House continue to receive the treatment and services necessary to help them overcome addiction and grow to lead independent lives.”
